Marshall Y. Taylor, former editor of the Mortgage Bankers Association's (MBA's) defunct weekly newspaper, Real Estate Finance Today (REFT), passed away at his home in Maryland on June 25 at the age of 58.

Taylor was hired as a senior reporter for REFT in 1990, rising to the position of editor-in-chief in 1998--a position he held until the newspaper ceased publication in 2002.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in political economy from Hillsdale College in Michigan. He spent most of his career as a journalist covering economic policy and mortgage finance in the Washington, D.C., area. He also worked in political and economic advocacy and analysis.
