On Sept. 18, 1971, The Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA) moved its headquarters, for the fourth time in its history, to 1125 15th St. N.W. in Washington, D.C.

The association was based in Chicago for the first 53 years of its existence. In 1946 it established a Washington office on I Street, where its general counsel was based for 21 years until the two offices consolidated and relocated to a building on H Street in 1967. Four years later, MBA had outgrown that space and found a larger home on 15th Street in a burgeoning corridor of housing--related organizations.
