Compared with June 2014, the number of homes sold in the Northern Virginia market jumped by 17 percent in June 2015, according to the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors[R] (NVAR).
The group said that pending sales also rose by 14 percent in June, which signals that the market will remain active.
NVAR Chair Mary Bayat commented in a July 10 press release, "June concludes our spring real estate season, and buyers and sellers negotiated on properties 2,543 times in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors area."
The region has a 2.25-month supply of homes for sale, which is an increase compared with last June, when just 2.2 months' supply was listed for sale.
The total of 2,543 homes sold in June 2015 compared favorably with the 2,174 homes sold in June 2014.
