Colorado and D.C. top list of states for price gains.

Jacksonville, Florida-based Black Knight Financial Services (BKFS) released its latest Home Price Index (HPI) report based on March transactions, and the numbers reveal the Colorado housing market is booming.

The state of Colorado topped the list of states with the largest home-price gains in March compared with the prior month at 1.9 percent. Metropolitan Washington, D.C., tied with Colorado at the top with 1.9 percent price appreciation. Coming in third at the state level was Washington with 1.6 percent price gains compared with the prior month.

On the list of Top 10 Movers at the metro level using March home-price data, three Colorado cities made the list. In third place was Boulder (price gains of 2.4 percent), followed by Denver in fourth place (+2.2 percent) and Greeley (+1.8 percent) in ninth place.
