Lender licensing: a call for reform.

As state licensing shackles the industry with more cumbersome requirements, the need for a uniform approach intensifies. The obstacles lenders must now overcome handcuff expansion plans and delay the start-up of innovative new companies.

Eleven years ago, I wrote my first article on the licensing of mortgage lenders for this magazine under the title "Traps for the Unwary: Recent Legal Developments in Mortgage Banking."
